Product Description

4 Pack Church Tackle TX-12 Planer Board (2 Starboard 2 Port)

Here we have a 4pack of medium sized planer boards that are used in trollingapplications for all species to get your presentations out to the sideof your boat allowing you to run more lines effectively and concisely. The dimensions of these boards are 8" long by 3" wide.

Planer Features:

  • An adjustable lightweight flex clip that'scoated with a material NASA uses in the space shuttle program. The clipholds the new, ultra thin, slippery braids and fused lines (likeBerkley FireLine) that are popular for trolling. Set correctly, thisclip won't damage even light monofilament. It's designed so the boardcan be removed with just one hand while fighting a fish. Works greatwith lead core or copper as well.
  • A spring-loaded retaining pin holds the linein a groove at the rear of the board. Just pull the pin with one handwhen removing the board. Anglers after hard-charging fish like salmon, stripers and saltwater species may set the Adjustable Flex Clip lightenough so that strikes pull the line free; the pin holds the board onthe line as it slides back to a swivel tied a few feet in front of thelure.  Clip can also be tightened down so that it won'trelease until taken off by the angler.
  • Airfoilleading edge helps lift your board over heavy waves.
  • Closed-cell foam flotation absorbs no water.
  • Made of non-corrosive materials suitable forsaltwater use.

  1. Good enough for small tackle

Posted by Rob Sterling on May 24th 2012

I've used the TX-12 and they are great for light work on fairly calm days. They don't work as well as the bigger boards on rougher seas but for trolling spoons on Lake Superior in spring or spinners and smaller cranks for walleyes they work great. The smaller size will also let you know if you're dragging around a small fish or debris on your tackle without the need for tattle flags. I also like the fact that the releases can handle any line be it mono, braid, or fireline. My only complain is I wish the back release spring was a little stiffer.
